The UAB Men’s Basketball team lost a close game to Troy, 86-85, on Sunday at Bartow Arena. The defeat brings UAB’s season record to 7-4.
Ahmad Robinson led the Blazers with 25 points and set season highs in minutes played (37:04), points (25), and field goals made (nine). Salim London also had a career day, scoring 19 points with personal bests in minutes (35:57), field goals (eight), and three-point shots made (three). Daniel Rivera and Chance Westry each added 10 points for UAB.
For Troy, Victor Valdes scored a game-high 26 points. Four players from each team finished in double figures.
UAB shot its best percentage of the season from the three-point line at 38% and went 55% from the field overall. The Blazers outrebounded Troy 33-29 but only reached the free throw line 13 times, their lowest total this season. The contest featured frequent momentum shifts, with 13 lead changes and 11 ties throughout the game.
Salim London opened scoring for UAB with consecutive three-pointers, helping establish an early lead. However, Troy responded quickly and eventually took control during stretches of the second half. After falling behind by as many as ten points, UAB mounted several runs to retake the lead late in the game.
With seconds remaining, Ahmad Robinson drove for a layup that put UAB ahead by one point. On Troy’s final possession, a missed three-pointer bounced into Thomas Dowd’s hands; he scored as time expired to secure victory for Troy.
This marks Andy Kennedy’s first loss as head coach against Troy after previously holding a perfect record against them.
UAB will next play Cleveland State on December 17 at Bartow Arena.
