The UAB men’s basketball team will begin a four-game home stretch by hosting Troy on December 14 at Bartow Arena. The game is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPN2.
UAB enters the matchup with a 7-3 record, while Troy stands at 6-5. In their most recent outing, UAB secured its first road win of the season against Drake, finishing with a score of 74-69. Chance Westry led the Blazers with 17 points, followed by Ahmad Robinson with 16 and KyeRon Lindsay-Martin with 14. Evan Chatman contributed seven points and collected 15 rebounds, while Lindsay-Martin achieved a double-double.
Troy’s last game saw them defeat Division III LeGrange, scoring over 100 points.
The series history favors UAB, which leads Troy 12-1. The only loss to Troy occurred in December 2018. “Andy Kennedy is 6-0 (five wins at Ole Miss) against Troy as a head coach,” according to the release.
UAB has won four of its last five games since November 21 and currently ranks first in its conference in fast break points, rebounds per game, offensive rebounds per game, and defensive rebounds per game. Nationally, UAB holds high rankings in several categories: it is ranked eighth in rebounds per game (44.3), third in offensive rebounds per game (15.6), and twenty-third in fast break points per game (17.9). Evan Chatman is among national leaders with his rebounding statistics.
Troy also performs well nationally in rebounding and offense, ranking thirty-third in rebounds per game (41.73), while averaging nearly ninety points and over ten steals per contest.
Several players are approaching career milestones: Daniel Rivera needs 114 more points to reach one thousand; Jacob Meyer is seventy-three away from that mark and close to two thousand career minutes; KyeRon Lindsay-Martin recently reached four hundred career points; Andy Kennedy is two wins away from his four-hundredth victory as a head coach.
