UAB Baseball will play South Alabama on Tuesday at Riverwalk Stadium in Montgomery. The game is scheduled to start at 6:05 p.m. This matchup marks the first time the two teams will meet in Montgomery, although they have played each other 87 times previously. South Alabama leads the all-time series 53-34.
Last season, UAB swept South Alabama at Young Memorial Field, with their most recent meeting resulting in a 9-7 win for UAB on February 23, 2025.
The probable starting pitchers are Justin Hicks, a sophomore right-hander for UAB with no decisions and a 0.00 ERA so far this season, and Hayden O’Dell, a senior left-hander for South Alabama who has an ERA of 8.44.
South Alabama enters the game after sweeping West Georgia over the weekend. Under head coach Mark Calvi, now in his 15th season, the Jaguars rank second in the Sun Belt Conference in runs scored and third in hits. Brennon Wright leads the conference with 20 hits and is third in batting average at .476.
For UAB, Tuesday’s contest is their only neutral site game of the regular season. The team has hit home runs in nine consecutive games and leads the American Conference with 21 home runs—a total tied for 13th nationally. UAB also tops the league with a .981 fielding percentage and is tied for first with 11 double plays.
The Blazers are undefeated this season when scoring first and have a record of six wins and three losses when hitting a home run during games. Alex Dupuy was named Honorable Mention by the American Conference as part of its weekly awards; he currently has a seven-game hitting streak and three straight multi-hit games.
Head coach Casey Dunn holds a record of three wins and two losses against South Alabama since joining UAB, with all victories occurring last year.
