UAB Track & Field announced on Apr. 30 that the team will compete in its last regular season meet on Friday at the Maroon and White Invite, hosted by Mississippi State in Starkville, Mississippi.
The event marks an important opportunity for athletes to prepare ahead of upcoming conference competitions. The schedule includes a range of field and track events throughout the day, beginning with pole vault at 10:00 AM featuring Fiona Eastman, Victoria Freeland, Noelle Hambrick, and Trinity Fellows. Hope Foster will participate in the high jump at 11:00 AM.
Madison Cameron and Mikayla Williams are set to compete in both long jump at noon and triple jump later in the day. In early afternoon events, Hope Foster and Hannah-Sophie Pippel will take part in javelin at 1:30 PM. Laney Webb is scheduled for shot put at 3:00 PM alongside the start of relay races.
Track events begin mid-afternoon with Kelly Hughes running the 400m hurdles at 3:15 PM followed by Emma Kate Alexander in the 400m dash. Victory George is slated for the 100m sprint while Kat Duren competes in the 100m hurdles later on. The day’s competition concludes with distance runners Kylie Gero, Savannah Meyer, and Kaitlyn Wende entering the 1500m race.
Reflecting on last year’s event under similar conditions, UAB endured a three-hour weather delay due to thunderstorms. Hope Foster cleared a height of 1.60 meters for her third consecutive meet in high jump; Noelle Hambrick reached a mark of 3.70 meters again in pole vault while placing second overall; Victoria Freeland finished with a height of 3.55 meters.
