Mari Miller also came off the bench to achieve a season-high three rebounds. Jordan Rosier started for the first time this season, scoring seven points and matching her best mark of three field goals in a game. Monae’ Duffy led the team in rebounding with 14 boards, marking her eleventh game this season with double-digit rebounds.
UAB scored 26 points in the paint and had 24 points from its bench players. However, turnovers were an issue; Temple capitalized on UAB’s mistakes by scoring 29 points off turnovers compared to just three for UAB. The Blazers committed 21 turnovers while Temple had six.
In terms of shooting percentages, UAB made 37 percent of its shots from the field, converted on 22 percent from three-point range, and hit half their free throws. Temple shot better across all categories: 42 percent from the field, 44 percent from beyond the arc, and 67 percent at the free throw line.
Memphis enters Wednesday’s contest with a record of 9-20 overall and shares an identical conference record (3-13) with UAB. The Tigers lost their last outing to UTSA by a score of 67-55. Daejah Richmond leads Memphis in scoring at an average of 13.5 points per game while Tamya Smith averages 11.6 points per game and leads in rebounding with an average of 5.3 per contest.
This meeting marks the sixtieth time these two teams have faced each other in program history and is their second encounter this season. Memphis holds a historical advantage over UAB in head-to-head matchups, leading the series by a margin of 35 wins to UAB’s 24; they are also ahead when playing at home (20-7).
