UAB women’s basketball will begin a three-game home stretch by hosting Alcorn State on December 15 at Bartow Arena. The game is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. Central Time.
In their most recent game, UAB lost to Southern Miss with a score of 81-73 on December 7. Four players scored in double figures: Sofia Munoz led with a career-high 24 points, including four three-pointers and six free throws; Cali Smallwood added 16 points and achieved a personal best with seven rebounds; Monae’ Duffy contributed 14 points and matched her career-high of 12 rebounds for her second double-double of the season; Molly Moffitt scored 12 points. The game was closely contested, featuring 18 lead changes and 11 ties, with both teams holding eight-point leads at different times. UAB led for more than 20 minutes and entered the fourth quarter ahead by five points before Southern Miss took control in the final period.
Alcorn State enters the matchup with a record of 3-5 this season, coming off a win against Rust College by a score of 72-32 on December 1. Nakia Cheatham leads Alcorn State in scoring with an average of 13.8 points per game, while Maya Hunkin-Claytor averages 9.9 points.
This will be the eighth meeting between UAB and Alcorn State in program history. UAB holds a perfect record in the series at 7-0, including a 5-0 mark when playing at Bartow Arena. The last time these teams met was on December 15, 2024, when UAB won by a score of 76-51.
