57 percent of applicants to Birmingham Southern College were admitted for fall 2018

At Birmingham Southern College, 99 percent of undergraduate students are traditional students - age 24 or younger - and 52 percent are female, according to the latest disclosure from the U.S. Department of Education.

The four-year private not-for-profit institution in Birmingham enrolled 1,268 students in fall 2018, all in undergraduate programs, data shows. 3.5 percent of undergraduates transferred from another college or university.

62 percent of undergraduates are residents of Alabama, and 37 percent are residents of other states. 1 percent are citizens of foreign countries.

The undergraduate student body is comprised mostly of students who identify as white (79 percent) and Black or African American (14 percent).

The school admitted 57 percent of the 3,636 students who applied for fall 2018. Of those who were admitted, 16 percent enrolled.
