42.6 percent of Birmingham Southern College students played sports on university teams in 2017-2018

In 2017-2018, 42.6 percent of Birmingham Southern College students participated in collegiate sports, according to data made available by the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES).

Birmingham Southern College has a total student body of 1,268 students, of which 52 percent are women and 48 percent are men. Of these students, 346 men and 194 women represented the school by participating in one or more of the sports with teams at the school.

This total does not include students playing intramural sports.

According to NCES, 8.7 percent of students enrolled at institutions of higher education with sports teams were on teams.

The sports at Birmingham Southern College with the most participants are all track combined (123), football (109) and swimming and diving (59).
