Rep. Terri A. Sewell, a member of the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding actions taken by the Trump Administration. In a series of tweets, she addressed issues ranging from national security to trade policies and local emergency management efforts.
On March 25, 2025, Rep. Sewell tweeted about her alarm concerning reports that "officials at the highest levels of the Trump Administration were illegally texting highly classified information including war plans via Signal, a commercial phone application." She emphasized the potential risks posed by such actions "putting our" national security in jeopardy.
Later that day, she highlighted economic concerns related to trade policies implemented during Trump's presidency. Rep. Sewell noted that she had "questioned trade experts on the Trump Administration’s unconstitutional power grab of Congress’ trade authority." She further elaborated on how these policies are affecting Alabama's economy by stating that "Trump’s trade wars are threatening more than 90,000 Alabama jobs and will raise prices on everyday goods" .
In another post from March 25, Rep. Sewell discussed her meeting with leaders from the Alabama Emergency Management Agency in Washington D.C., where they talked about recovery efforts in Plantersville and Gordo. The discussion focused on collaboration to enhance safety measures against severe weather for Alabamians .
