Track and Field Earns Two Medals on Final Day of C-USA Outdoor Championships

20

The UAB track and field team secured two medals on the final day of the 2022 C-USA Outdoor Championships, and turned in a season best performance in San Antonio, Texas. "We had great contributions from all areas," said head coach Kurt Thomas. "We scored in many different events and that's a really solid team effort.  We always want to score more points, but with injuries and other things, the group we brought here competed so hard and scratched every point they could. We are very proud of them. The 4x1 ran well, but Birthe Franck-Petersen, Anna and Tia started our scoring off in the field events.  Tia had massive improvements this weekend in her events.  Anna was impressive as always and set an outdoor PR.  Kat and Lisa stepped up and raced well in the hurdles.  We are proud of them and they showed great competitiveness this weekend."

Anna Massa became a conference champion in the pole vault today, winning a gold medal in the pole vault (4.23m). Her event winning mark today is currently ranked 15th in the NCAA East Division. Kat Duren placed second in the 100m hurdles with a 13.59 time that has her ranked near the top 48 in the NCAA East Division.
