The UAB women's golf team shot their low round of the tournament on the final 18 holes and placed eighth at the Hoover Invite this week at Hoover Country Club.
Freshman Peyton Costabile led the Blazers as she tied for 21st place overall at +12. Costabile (78-76-74) progressed two strokes each round and saved her best for the final 18 with a two-over 74.
Playing as an individual, freshman Grace Sinclair was UAB's second finisher by shooting +13 and tying for 24th overall. Like Costabile, Sinclair (77-78-74) also shot +2 in the final round.
Erika Allen placed in a tie for 26th overall at +14 and shot 78-77-75. Emilia Smith tied for 31st at +16. Katrina Gustafssone, who also played as an individual, rounded out UAB's lineup in a tie for 46th at +20.
The Blazers (311-309-307 = 927) were +63 for the tournament. Southern Miss and South Alabama tied for first place at +17 with Southern Miss winning the tiebreak. Individually, South Alabama's Greta Rietdorf won the event at -3.
