Rep. Terri A. Sewell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district, has recently shared her views on various national issues through a series of tweets. Sewell, who has held her congressional position since 2011, discussed topics ranging from economic impacts on her state to international and domestic policies in her posts.

On April 9, 2025, Rep. Sewell expressed her concern about the impact of former President Trump's tariffs on local businesses. In her post, she stated, "Trump’s tariffs will devastate Alabama’s small businesses." This remark highlights the potential economic challenges faced by small businesses in her state due to the tariffs.

Later that day, Sewell reflected on her engagement with international advocacy. Following a meeting with Alex Drueke and the American Coalition for Ukraine, Sewell tweeted about the importance of U.S. support for Ukraine. She stated, "Great meeting with Alex Drueke and the American Coalition for Ukraine! The U.S. must continue to support our Ukrainian partners and stand up for freedom and democracy across the globe." This illustrates Sewell’s stance on international diplomacy and supporting democracy.

The following morning, April 10, 2025, Sewell commented on a domestic legislative issue concerning voting rights. She criticized House Republicans for what she perceives as an attempt to undermine electoral integrity. She described their actions as "spreading lies about our elections in order to justify making it harder for millions of Americans to vote." Additionally, she opposed the proposed legislation known as the “SAVE Act,” expressing her intention to vote against it.

She was born in Huntsville, Alabama, in 1965 and has a BA from Princeton University, an MA from St Hilda's College, Oxford, and a JD from Harvard University. She currently resides in Birmingham, Alabama.
