Dear Friends,
I am thankful for our North Alabama Conference clergy for faithfully serving God and the church during a tumultuous time in our culture and denomination. COVID-19, economic challenges, racial injustices, political divisions and denominational tensions have not stopped our clergy leaders from sharing the Good News of Jesus Christ. Thank you, North Alabama clergy, for the difference you are making in the lives of many!
Since October is recognized as Pastor Appreciation Month by many denominations, including our own, I asked the North Alabama District Superintendents to add their voices to mine in naming reasons they are grateful for our clergy. Here are their responses.
Rev. Vicki Cater: “I am grateful for the warm reception into the Northwest District, and the many prayers they continue to pray over me and the church.”
Rev. Sherill Clontz: “I am thankful for the commitment of our pastors to not only care for the members of their congregations but to reach out to serve their communities.”
Rev. Jeff Davis: “I am grateful we continue to have the opportunity to be part of the Church as Easter people!”
Rev. Rick Owen: “We are blessed with pastors who love and care for their congregations and communities as they share the love of Christ to make disciples and live out their call."
Rev. Tom Parrish: “I am so very grateful for the loving, grace-filled, faithful way our pastors live their lives and serve their churches! They are a tremendous blessing!”
Rev. Sherri Reynolds: “I am grateful for the ways that they love like Jesus.”
Rev. Donald Smith: “I am grateful for the continued passion to serve and professionalism in ministry of our clergy.”
I encourage all our laity and churches to express gratitude to the clergy in your lives, not just during October but throughout the year. North Alabama clergy offer ministry to so many people in our Annual Conference and beyond.
As always, it is a privilege to serve as your bishop.
Blessings,
Debra Wallace-Padgett
