U.S. Senator Katie Britt has expressed her concerns over the current state of government funding, urging a return to regular order in Congress. Her remarks come after the passage of a continuing resolution by both chambers.

Senator Britt emphasized the importance of Congress's role in funding the government and criticized what she sees as a failure to follow proper procedures. "I am committed to righting those wrongs," she stated, highlighting her efforts alongside Republican colleagues to bring bipartisan committee-passed appropriations bills to the Senate floor for consideration.

Britt specifically pointed out two bills: the Fiscal Year 2025 Military Construction, Veterans Affairs, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act and the FY25 Defense Appropriations Act. She expressed frustration that these bills have not been debated or voted on due to what she perceives as obstruction by Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer.

"There is no good reason the Senate shouldn’t have used August and September to debate and then vote on these bills," Britt said. She argued that without Schumer's support, essential resources for service members and veterans remain stalled.

Britt also noted that it has been nearly three decades since Congress passed all 12 appropriations bills on time. Despite advancements made by the Senate Appropriations Committee this year, she believes that none will be considered individually under the current Democrat Senate Majority.

The senator voiced her commitment to advancing these bills, which she believes are crucial for national interests and returning funds to Alabama for military training, community strengthening, law enforcement support, emergency response enhancement, and future investments.

Britt criticized what she described as an approach by Democrats to delay decisions until December 20th. She warned of facing a "massive omnibus" at year's end with limited debate opportunities and transparency issues regarding taxpayer money usage.

"We need Senator Schumer to allow the Senate to do its job," Britt asserted. She pledged her dedication to ensuring these appropriations bills are completed successfully for national defense support and functional governance restoration in Congress.
