WASHINGTON, D.C., January 23, 2024 - U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) has expressed her support for the 14th annual National School Choice Week, which is taking place from January 21 to January 27, 2024. In a statement, Senator Britt emphasized the importance of a quality education and its role in unlocking opportunities for children.

"There is nothing more powerful than a quality education," Senator Britt stated. "It's the key to unlocking the American Dream. It's the pathway out of poverty. And it can help ensure that every single child has the opportunity to reach their full potential, regardless of their zip code."

Senator Britt highlighted the significance of National School Choice Week in empowering families to make decisions that best suit their children's growth and future success. She acknowledged that every student and family situation is unique, and there is no one-size-fits-all approach to education.

"School choice means educational freedom," Senator Britt explained. "It empowers families to make important decisions that help their children grow, achieve, and secure a bright future."

She emphasized the various educational options available to families, including traditional public schools, public magnet schools, charter schools, vocational schools, private schools, parochial schools, homeschooling, and hybrid options. Senator Britt encouraged parents to take control of their child's education and make decisions that align with their individual needs.

"This week, let's recommit to putting parents back in the driver's seat so that they are empowered to make the best decisions for their own child's education," Senator Britt urged.

As a cosponsor of Senator Tim Scott's (R-S.C.) resolution designating National School Choice Week, Senator Britt has shown her commitment to advancing educational freedom. She is also a cosponsor of the Educational Choice for Children Act, introduced by Senator Bill Cassidy (R-La.), further demonstrating her dedication to ensuring educational opportunities for all children.

In conclusion, Senator Britt reaffirmed her determination to fight for educational freedom and opportunity for every child in Alabama and the nation.

"I will continue to fight for educational freedom and opportunity for each and every child across Alabama and our nation so that they can live their American Dream," Senator Britt asserted.

With her support for National School Choice Week and her dedication to advocating for educational freedom, Senator Katie Britt is working towards unlocking opportunities and empowering families to make the best choices for their children's education.
