Representative Gary Palmer (AL-06) has voted in favor of impeaching Secretary of Homeland Security Alejandro Mayorkas. In a statement released following the vote, Palmer expressed his concerns about Mayorkas' actions and the consequences they have had on the country.

Palmer accused Mayorkas of lying under oath on multiple occasions and betraying the public's trust by failing to uphold the Constitution. He also criticized Mayorkas for his alleged negligence in dealing with the flow of deadly fentanyl into communities, which is responsible for nearly 70% of all drug overdose deaths, as well as the increase in violent crime and the support of what Palmer referred to as "the largest human trafficking operation in the world."

"The Committee on Homeland Security has found clear evidence that Secretary Mayorkas has failed to comply with current immigration laws, lied to Congress, and breached the public's trust," Palmer stated. He further emphasized the importance of holding both Mayorkas and President Biden accountable for their failure to secure the borders.

The vote to impeach Mayorkas highlights the growing concerns among some lawmakers about the current state of immigration and homeland security. It also underscores the ongoing political divide surrounding the issue, with Palmer and others in favor of stricter border control measures and holding government officials accountable for their actions.

The impeachment vote is a significant step in the process, but it remains to be seen what further actions will be taken and what impact it will have on Mayorkas' position as Secretary of Homeland Security.
