Palmer Announces 2024 U.S. Service Academy Nominations

Representative Gary Palmer of Alabama's Sixth Congressional District has announced the nomination of 12 outstanding students for the 2024 U.S. Service Academies. The nominated students come from various high schools and demonstrate exceptional potential for future leadership roles in the military.

In a statement, Rep. Palmer expressed his confidence in the nominated students, saying, “I want the best that we have to offer for our military, and these students are just that. Nominating students to the U.S. Service Academies is one of the most important aspects of my job. Our process is tough because these are the future leaders of our military, and we want them to be prepared to possibly lead future generations into combat."

The nominated students and their respective academies are as follows:

- JB Cook of Mountain Brook High School, nominated for U.S. Military Academy

- Addison Doyle of Indian Springs School, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy

- Barrett Grant of Briarwood Christian High School, nominated for U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and U.S. Naval Academy

- Annie Gregory of Mountain Brook High School, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy

- Connor Hofbauer of Saint Andrew’s School, Florida, nominated for U.S. Military Academy

- Sean Kirce of Thompson High School, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy

- Branum Lloyd of Mountain Brook High School, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy and U.S. Air Force Academy

- Tim Mau of Jefferson County International Baccalaureate, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy, U.S. Military Academy, and U.S. Air Force Academy

- Gabi Ramirez of Vestavia Hills High School, nominated for U.S. Air Force Academy, U.S. Merchant Marine Academy, and U.S. Military Academy

- Isaac Roberts of Marion Military Institute, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy

- Nate Roberts of Rift Valley Academy, Kenya, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy

- Phoebe Rominger of Marion Military Institute, nominated for U.S. Naval Academy

These students have shown dedication to academic excellence, leadership, and a strong desire to serve their country. Rep. Palmer commended the students from Alabama’s Sixth District, stating, “I believe Alabama’s Sixth District has some of the brightest young people in the state and country and am delighted these students have expressed their desire to serve our country.”

For those interested in attending a military service academy, eligibility criteria include being at least 17 years old, a U.S. citizen, possessing a strong academic background, proven leadership skills, and good moral character.
