U.S. Senators Katie Britt, Tim Scott, Bob Casey, and a group of their Senate colleagues have introduced the bipartisan Antisemitism Awareness Act aimed at addressing the growing issue of antisemitic bigotry on college campuses. The bill specifically focuses on combating targeted harassment towards the Jewish community, particularly in the aftermath of a terrorist attack by Hamas on October 7, 2023.

Senator Katie Britt emphasized the importance of taking a firm stand against antisemitism in America, stating, "Now more than ever, we must send a resounding message that antisemitism has no place in America. Make no mistake – ‘Never Again’ is now, and not just overseas." She further highlighted the need to differentiate between good and evil, calling for decisive action against those who support extremist ideologies.

Senator Tim Scott expressed concern over the rise of antisemitism in educational institutions, stating, "Our nation’s institutions of higher learning have become hotbeds of antisemitism, especially in the wake of the brutal attacks against Israel and innocent civilians by Hamas and Iran." He stressed the importance of equipping the Department of Education with the necessary resources to combat this hatred.

Senator Bob Casey also voiced his support for the bill, emphasizing the need to protect Jewish students on college campuses amidst the surge in antisemitic incidents following the terrorist attack by Hamas.

The Antisemitism Awareness Act has garnered bipartisan support from a diverse group of senators, including Jacky Rosen, James Lankford, Ron Wyden, Rick Scott, and many others. The legislation aims to ensure that the Department of Education takes decisive action against all forms of antisemitic discrimination on college campuses.

Senator Britt's commitment to supporting the Jewish community and Israel has been evident through her active involvement in various initiatives. She has co-sponsored multiple pieces of legislation aimed at combating antisemitism, including Senator Scott’s Stop Antisemitism on College Campuses Act and Senator Rubio’s resolution calling for action against individuals supporting terrorist organizations.

The introduction of the Antisemitism Awareness Act underscores the senators' collective effort to address the concerning rise of antisemitism and protect the rights of Jewish students on college campuses across the United States.
