U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.), a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, has secured $312,000 for the Town of Grove Hill in the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

This congressionally directed spending will enable the town to modernize its existing water lines maintained by the Grove Hill Water System. The funds will be used to replace main lines with upgraded ones serving approximately 70 homes and one school with 300 students and teachers. Additionally, multiple fire hydrants will be added along the upgraded lines, increasing firefighting capacity within the project area.

“I’m proud to have secured $312,000 for Grove Hill to upgrade water lines,” said Senator Britt. “When I joined the Appropriations Committee, I promised to return your hard-earned taxpayer dollars home to Alabama, and I am doing just that with this funding, which would benefit families, emergency responders, and students and educators.”

Grove Hill Mayor Ross Wood expressed his appreciation: “Any time that we can make much needed improvements to any services for the city, it is a plus. But the appropriation from Senator Britt will make the biggest difference you can imagine. The much-needed funds will allow Grove Hill to increase the size of the water line running down several streets. Because now, we will have the ability to add much needed fire hydrants on streets that have not had them. The people on those streets, in that part of town are overjoyed at the improvements they will be getting.”

The FY25 Interior, Environment, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act now awaits consideration by the full Senate.
