U.S. Senators Katie Britt (R-Ala.) and Tommy Tuberville (R-Ala.) announced the allocation of $650,000 for the Lawrence County Commission as part of the Fiscal Year 2025 (FY25) Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act.

The secured funding aims to enhance Lawrence County's public safety radio network with improved communications equipment and services.

“When I joined the Senate Appropriations Committee, I promised to bring Alabamians’ hard-earned dollars home. Ensuring our heroic first responders and public safety officials have the best tools to protect and serve their communities is a top priority for me in that effort. This $650,000 would be an investment in the wellbeing of our friends, families, neighbors, and communities, and it would provide a needed upgrade for emergency personnel in Lawrence County,” said Senator Britt.

“Our first responders and public safety officials work tirelessly to keep Alabamians safe, and we want to ensure they can access the resources needed to continue looking out for our local communities. I was honored to team up with Senator Britt to place secure these much-needed funds in the Senate appropriations bill to provide upgrades to Lawrence County’s public safety radio network,” said Senator Tuberville.

“The Lawrence County Commission greatly appreciate Senator Britt’s and Senator Tuberville’s leadership and determination in securing $650,000 in funding for this critical initiative. This funding is a vital step forward in enhancing public safety and ensuring that our first responders and public safety personnel receive reliable and effective communication system during emergencies. The safety and well-being of Lawrence County citizens depend on such advancements. This project is essential for protecting our citizens and improving our overall public safety infrastructure,” said Lawrence County Commissioner Amard Martin.

As a member of the Senate Committee on Appropriations, Senator Britt recently voted to advance the FY25 Commerce, Justice, Science, and Related Agencies Appropriations Act. The legislation now awaits consideration by the full Senate.
