U.S. Senator Katie Britt has expressed her support for Scott Turner, President Donald Trump's nominee for Secretary of Housing and Urban Development (HUD). Turner was confirmed by the Senate with a vote of 55 to 44.

Senator Britt, who serves as Chairman of the Housing, Transportation, and Community Development Subcommittee on the Senate Banking Committee, emphasized the importance of addressing the nation's affordable housing crisis. She stated that "inflation, low inventory, and burdensome regulations have put access to housing and homeownership even further out of reach for hardworking Americans." According to Britt, Turner's leadership under President Trump will help reverse these challenges.

Britt praised Turner's commitment during his confirmation hearing and noted his potential to bring significant experience to HUD. She criticized what she described as the previous administration's "red tape regime" and economic policies that worsened the housing crisis.

In her remarks at the hearing, Senator Britt said: "You are going to inherit a tremendous problem, but one that is critically important for people to be able to have their piece of the American Dream . . . I am thrilled about the Trump Administration coming in, you being at the helm, [and] getting [the Department] focused back on solutions and getting real results."

After voting in favor of advancing Turner's nomination from the Senate Banking Committee, Britt expressed confidence in his ability to contribute positively to President Trump's cabinet. She added that he would work towards making housing more affordable through commonsense solutions.
