U.S. Senator Katie Britt has expressed her support for President Donald Trump's nominee, Robert F. Kennedy Jr., to lead the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS). Kennedy's nomination was confirmed by a Senate vote of 52-48.
"The state of chronic disease in America is limiting our potential and preventing our kids from achieving their own American Dream. We must turn the tide on America’s health crisis—both mental and physical—and work together to Make America Healthy Again," said Senator Britt. "President Trump’s America First agenda demands this, and Robert F. Kennedy Jr. at the helm of HHS will ensure our federal health agencies adhere to the mission they are charged with – bettering the health of the American people."
Senator Britt further stated, "Secretary Kennedy stands ready to return America to objective science and gold standard research so that we aren’t just the greatest country in the world, we’re the healthiest." She added, "There’s a lot to be done, but along with President Trump and Secretary Kennedy, we are committed to getting Americans’ health back on track. We want to empower parents so that they have good choices and can make the best decisions for their families. Let’s get to work."
In December, after meeting with Kennedy, Senator Britt expressed her approval: "discussed protecting life and advancing an agenda that helps women, children, and families thrive." She noted being encouraged by his commitment "to restoring the pro-life policies that President Trump implemented his first term" and appreciated learning about his time living in Alabama. She also looked forward "to hosting him in [Alabama] soon to showcase the groundbreaking, lifesaving research being conducted by Alabamians."
