U.S. Senators Katie Britt and Lindsey Graham have introduced a bipartisan resolution aimed at ensuring that Hamas does not retain any political or military control over the Gaza Strip. The resolution comes in response to ongoing tensions in the region, particularly following what Senator Britt described as "Hamas’ barbaric attack on Israel" over 500 days ago.

Senator Britt emphasized her commitment to supporting Israel's right to self-defense and called for halting all funding sources for Iranian-backed terrorists. She stated, "The threat of Hamas must be ended permanently. Only through strength can we achieve lasting, sustainable peace."

The resolution urges the President to employ economic and diplomatic measures to cut off funding for Hamas from Iran and other revenue sources. It also expresses support for Israel's efforts to defend its sovereignty against attacks from Hamas, Iran, and other proxies.

Senator Graham highlighted the importance of removing Hamas from power in Gaza, stating, "One of the defining moments for the future of the Middle East and the world at large is to state directly and with moral clarity that Hamas – a terrorist organization – will no longer have political or military control of Gaza at the end of this conflict." He accused Hamas of oppressing Palestinians and threatening global stability.

The resolution has garnered bipartisan backing, with Senators Richard Blumenthal, Tom Cotton, and Jacky Rosen joining Britt and Graham in its introduction. Senator Britt has been vocal about reimposing sanctions on Iran to disrupt its terror network funding capabilities.
