U.S. Senator Katie Britt of Alabama has voted in favor of Linda McMahon's nomination as Secretary of Education under President Trump. The Senate confirmed the nomination with a vote tally of 51-45.

Senator Britt expressed her support for McMahon, stating, "Linda McMahon will be a fierce advocate for putting parents back in the driver’s seat and returning to the fundamentals of classroom learning." She highlighted McMahon's background in reducing government intervention and emphasized that educational decisions should be made by those closest to it rather than federal bureaucrats.

Britt further stated her confidence in McMahon's ability to align education with workforce systems, enhancing skills training and job preparedness for the 21st century. "I look forward to working with her to empower parents, strengthen educational freedom, and ensure a bright future for the next generation of Americans," Britt added.

During McMahon's confirmation hearing before the Senate Health, Education, Labor, and Pensions Committee, Senator Britt introduced her nominee. In her remarks, she criticized the current state of education: “The status quo in education just hasn’t failed students; it’s failed parents, just like me... Our students deserve better. Our parents deserve better. We have to do something different in order to achieve a different result... Enough is enough. We need a change agent at the Department of Education. And that change agent is Linda McMahon.”

In a column written prior to the confirmation vote, Senator Britt reiterated her support for McMahon's appointment: “Linda’s confirmation as secretary of education will be a monumental step toward preserving the American Dream and making a bright future possible for the next generation of Americans."
