Rep. Terri A. Sewell criticizes trade policies and IRS office closures

Rep. Terri A. Sewell, a U.S. Congress member representing Alabama's 7th district since 2011, recently expressed her concerns on social media regarding economic and political issues affecting Alabama families. Sewell, who was born in Huntsville, Alabama, and currently resides in Birmingham, has an extensive educational background with degrees from Princeton University, St Hilda's College at Oxford, and Harvard University.

On March 4, 2025, Rep. Sewell criticized President Trump's trade policies via Twitter: "Alabama families are already struggling with the high cost of living. President Trump's trade war will only increase inflation for Alabama families and weaken our national security. President Trump must stop selling out the American people and our allies in order to fund his tax…"

Later that day, she addressed the closure of IRS offices in Alabama: "NEWS: As Trump and Musk look to cut taxes for billionaires, they are shutting down seven IRS offices in Alabama, including two in Birmingham. This will make it much harder for working class Alabamians to get help filing their taxes!"

On March 5, 2025, Rep. Sewell introduced Chelsy Lyons as her guest to President Trump's address to Congress: "Meet Chelsy Lyons, my guest to President Trump’s address to Congress tonight. Chelsy has worked for the Social Security Administration in Birmingham for the past 17 years. She serves as the Legislative Political Coordinator for AFGE Local 2206, the largest federal employees…"
