U.S. Senator Katie Britt appeared on "America's Newsroom" to discuss President Trump's recent Joint Address to Congress. According to a CBS poll, most Americans viewed the speech positively, describing it as "inspiring" and "unifying."
During her interview, Senator Britt criticized the Democratic response to the address. She stated, ". . . Democrats are just wrong on the issues. November 5th spoke loud and clear, and unfortunately, they keep reverting back to Joe Biden’s failed policies." She highlighted border control as an area where she believes Democrats have not been effective.
Senator Britt also addressed women's sports issues, stating that protecting women in sports is an "80/20 issue," emphasizing fairness and safety. She noted that public opinion does not align with the Democratic Party on this matter.
The arrest of an ISIS-K terrorist was another topic of discussion. Senator Britt remarked on the global impact of the U.S.'s withdrawal from Afghanistan: “I mean, what an incredible moment... One of my first things as a United States Senator was to go and travel and meet with world leaders." She stressed the importance of showing strength internationally.
In comments to Fox News Digital after President Trump's address, Senator Britt expressed disappointment over her Democratic colleagues' reactions during the event: “I was so disappointed that my Democratic colleagues couldn’t stand and show love for so many of the Americans that were recognized tonight."
She also mentioned President Trump honoring 13-year-old brain cancer survivor Devarjaye “DJ” Daniel by naming him an honorary Secret Service Agent. Reflecting on this moment, she said it was "heartbreaking" that not everyone stood in support when DJ was recognized.
Last year, Alabama Governor Kay Ivey appointed DJ Daniel as an honorary law enforcement member in Alabama, and he was named an honorary deputy chief by Birmingham police.
