Rep Terri A Sewell celebrates achievements and historical events through social media

Rep. Terri A. Sewell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district, shared several updates on her social media account regarding significant events and recognitions.

On March 7, 2025, Rep. Sewell extended her congratulations to Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Walter B. Gonsoulin Jr., who was named the 2025 National Superintendent of the Year. She highlighted his achievement as a first for an Alabama educator, saying "Congratulations to Jefferson County Schools Superintendent Walter B. Gonsoulin Jr. on being named the 2025 National Superintendent of the Year! He is the first Alabama educator to receive this national recognition!"

Later that day, Rep. Sewell commemorated a historic event in Selma's civil rights history by remembering John Lewis and other Foot Soldiers who were attacked during their peaceful demonstration for voting rights on Edmund Pettus Bridge exactly sixty years ago. She noted, "Exactly 60 years ago, John Lewis and hundreds of Foot Soldiers were brutally attacked on the Edmund Pettus Bridge here in Selma while peacefully demonstrating for the right of all Americans to vote." She also mentioned participating in a tribute to honor their bravery.

On March 8, Rep. Sewell attended an event organized by NAACP and expressed gratitude towards its leaders and activists for their continuous efforts in advocating for progress within society. Her post read: "Had a great time at the NAACP Bridge Crossing Gala! I’m grateful for the amazing leaders, advocates, and activists at NAACP for working tirelessly to move us forward!"
