Notinee Darshan Dance Performance
Date:
February 26, 2023
Time:
2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Location:
Notinee Indian Dance Group is the largest Indian classical-fusion dance group in Alabama. In conjunction with our current exhibition Expanding Darshan: Manjari Sharma, To See and Be Seen, Notinee uses dance to explore the ways divinity is accessible within Indian culture. This performance is inspired by a line from Nobel Laureate Indian poet Rabindranath Tagore, which translates to “We Make The Divine Our Beloved, And Make Our Loved Ones Divine.” In this program, Notinee — along with guest artists from Natyananda, Creations Kathak, and the local community — uses dance and spoken word to blend formal devotions to the Gods while also illustrating the many ways divine depictions are integrated in everyday Indian culture.
