WASHINGTON, D.C., June 5, 2024 — U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) this week joined Senator Rick Scott (R-Fla.) and Senate Republican colleagues in issuing a joint statement criticizing Senate Democrats for their partisan show vote on the so-called Right to Contraception Act.
“There is no threat to access to contraception, which is legal in every state and required by law to be offered at no cost by health insurers, and it’s disgusting that Democrats are fearmongering on this important issue to score cheap political points,” said the Senators. “This bill infringes on the parental rights and religious liberties of some Americans and lets the federal government force religious institutions and schools, even public elementary schools, to offer contraception like condoms to little kids. It’s just another way for Democrats to use activist attorneys and our courts to advance their radical agenda and that is why we oppose this bill.”
Joining Senators Britt and Scott in issuing the statement were Senators Ron Johnson (R-Wisc.), Eric Schmitt (R-Mo.), Mitt Romney (R-Utah), Marco Rubio (R-Fla.), Rand Paul (R-Ky.), Mike Lee (R-Utah), Ted Cruz (R-Texas), Kevin Cramer (R-N.Dak.), Ted Budd (R-N.C.), James Lankford (R-Okla.), Jim Risch (R-Idaho), Mike Rounds (R-S.Dak.), Cindy Hyde-Smith (R-Miss.), Bill Hagerty (R-Tenn.), Cynthia Lummis (R-Wyo.), John Thune (R-S.Dak.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Thom Tillis (R-N.C.), Mike Crapo (R-Idaho), and Steve Daines (R-Mont.).

This comes after Senator Britt spoke on the Senate floor regarding the Right to Contraception Act to emphasize that Democrats’ continued “Summer of Scare Tactics” messaging is deliberate, false fearmongering, and a purely political exercise aimed at confusing and misleading voters ahead of November.
“Contraception is available in every state across the nation. And, of course, I want to be absolutely, 100% clear that I support continued nationwide access to contraception. But that’s not the purpose of the bill my colleagues across the aisle are bringing to the floor on Wednesday,” said Senator Britt.
Additionally, Senator Britt today joined Senators Marsha Blackburn (R-Tenn.), Lindsey Graham (R-S.C.), Steve Daines (R-Mont.), Chuck Grassley (R-Iowa), Roger Marshall(R-Kans.) , Ted Budd(R-N.C.) ,and Mike Rounds(R-S.Dak.) in introducing a resolution affirming the legal status and widespread nationwide availability of contraception.
