U.S. Senator Katie Britt (R-Ala.) led an effort today to pass four critical pieces of legislation in the Senate, revealing what she describes as the radical policy positions held by Vice President Kamala Harris. The blocked bills included a border security measure known as the WALL Act.

“It is incredibly disappointing to see Senate Democrats block these commonsense bills that put the safety, security, and prosperity of American families first,” said Senator Britt. “Today, they rallied around the radical policy positions their party’s leader claims she no longer holds. It’s crystal clear that Vice President Harris’ flip-flops are fake.”

Senator Britt emphasized her belief that Vice President Harris has misrepresented her stance on key issues during her campaign. “What we’ve seen is Kamala Harris has said that she is for a border wall. She has said she is for fracking. She has said that she’s for cracking down on illegal border crossings all during her short campaign tenure. But the truth is, all of those things were just blocked," stated Senator Britt.

The WALL Act proposed funding to complete the construction of a barrier on the southern border through measures such as eliminating taxpayer-funded entitlement benefits and tax credits used by illegal aliens and imposing fines on those making illegal entry into the United States.

Three additional bills were also blocked by Senate Democrats. These pieces of legislation aimed to address issues at the southern border, safeguard domestic energy production, and protect vulnerable infants.

Senator Britt noted that given Vice President Harris' recent claims of changing major policy positions, Senate Republicans provided an opportunity for Senate Democrats to support bills aligning with these new stances.

Senator Britt's motion to pass the WALL Act was joined by several colleagues. Additionally, Senator Britt planned to move for passage of the Laken Riley Act but faced opposition from Democrats who voiced concerns over fracking and border security measures.

“Senate Democrats talked down the clock," said Senator Britt. "They’re running from their unpopular opposition to the Laken Riley Act just like Vice President Harris is running from her extreme record."

Excerpts from Senator Britt's remarks highlighted her position: “This legislation is common sense and with a clear aim. It would appropriate the funding needed to finish actually building a barrier on our southern border without raising taxes or adding to national debt.”

She continued, “Today, we’re giving Senate Democrats a very clear choice... Do they support building a border wall or will they block it? Do they want to spend taxpayer funds on keeping American citizens safe or continue funding illegal border crossers? Where does Vice President [Harris’] party stand?”

Reflecting on past statements made by Vice President Harris regarding border security measures, Senator Britt pointed out perceived inconsistencies in her current campaign messaging versus previous actions taken during her tenure both in the Senate and as Vice President.

“What we saw here today [is] that her newfound ‘support’ of a border wall is not supported by her Democratic colleagues here in the Senate," concluded Senator Britt.
