Rep. Terri A. Sewell, who has been serving in the U.S. Congress representing Alabama’s 7th district since 2011, recently shared insights from her visits and discussions in Tuscaloosa through a series of tweets. Born in Huntsville, Alabama, Sewell has an extensive educational background with degrees from Princeton University, St Hilda's College at Oxford, and Harvard University.

On February 20, 2025, Rep. Sewell tweeted about her visit to the Maude Whatley Health Center in Tuscaloosa. She emphasized the importance of community health centers by stating: "I just toured the Maude Whatley Health Center in Tuscaloosa. Like so many of our community health centers, they provide essential care to our most vulnerable Alabamians." She expressed her commitment to opposing funding cuts for these centers by asserting: "I will continue to stand strong against efforts to cut their funding. Our health care is not up for grabs!"

On February 21, 2025, she posted another tweet highlighting her visit to a local YMCA: "Had a great visit to the Benjamin Barnes YMCA!" This brief statement underscores her engagement with community organizations.

Later that day, Rep. Sewell participated in a community roundtable discussion addressing potential impacts of proposed federal budget cuts under the Trump Administration on housing and healthcare services. In her tweet she remarked: "During our community roundtable in Tuscaloosa, we had an important discussion about how the Trump Administration’s proposed cuts to housing, health care, and other vital services will hurt our communities." She expressed gratitude towards those involved by saying: "I’m grateful to each of the panelists and constituents who joined us."
