A Shelby County man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison for multiple robberies, according to an announcement by U.S. Attorney Prim F. Escalona and Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms, and Explosives Nashville Field Division Acting Special Agent in Charge Jason Stankiewicz.
U.S. District Court Judge Anna M. Manasco handed down the sentence to Dorian Blake Bivins, 20, from Alabaster, Alabama. In September 2024, Bivins admitted guilt to charges of Hobbs Act Robbery and using a firearm during a crime of violence.
The plea agreement details that Bivins attempted to rob three businesses in Alabaster—Whataburger, Shell, and Chevron—over a period of 12 days in May and June 2023. During two of these offenses, he was armed with a pistol and discharged the weapon during his final robbery attempt.
The investigation was conducted by the ATF alongside the Alabaster Police Department. Assistant U.S. Attorney Daniel S. McBrayer led the prosecution.
