U.S. Senator Katie Britt, a member of the Senate Judiciary’s Antitrust, Competition Policy, and Consumer Rights Subcommittee, voted to confirm Gail Slater as Assistant Attorney General for the Antitrust Division under President Trump. The confirmation passed with a vote of 78-19.

Senator Britt expressed her support for Slater's appointment: “I was proud to vote to confirm Assistant AG Slater today. I am confident she will work diligently to ensure continued market competitiveness as our economy evolves. Alabama’s innovators, entrepreneurs, and small businesses are at the forefront of innovation and groundbreaking discoveries, and I will always fight for their opportunity to flourish and thrive.”

Britt emphasized Slater's experience as a former antitrust attorney: “Assistant AG Slater brings a wealth of experience as a former antitrust attorney that will be instrumental in addressing the challenges of today. At the helm of the DOJ’s Antitrust Division, I am confident she will ensure proper antitrust enforcement for consumers and promote fair competition.”

During a recent Senate Judiciary Committee hearing on Slater's nomination, she discussed with Senator Britt how the Antitrust Division is crucial in enabling small businesses and entrepreneurs to compete effectively in today's economy.
