Rep. Terri A. Sewell addresses local concerns amid recent events

Rep. Terri A. Sewell, currently serving in the U.S. Congress representing Alabama's 7th district, has recently shared a series of tweets addressing various issues and events. Her posts reflect on personal loss, community engagement, and disaster response.

On March 16, 2025, Rep. Sewell expressed her sorrow over the passing of Congresswoman Nita Lowey. In her tweet, she stated: "I’m saddened to hear of the passing of Congresswoman Nita Lowery. As the first woman to Chair the House Appropriations Committee, she paved the way for so many other women in Congress. My sincerest condolences are extended to her family and friends. May she Rest in Peace."

In another tweet dated March 17, 2025, Rep. Sewell announced an upcoming event focused on discussing proposed cuts by the current administration affecting key services such as education and healthcare. She invited community members to join her at a meeting in Greene County: "On Thursday, I’m hosting a community conversation in Greene County to discuss the impacts of this Administration’s proposed cuts to education, healthcare, food assistance, and other vital services."

Further reflecting her commitment to her constituents' welfare, Rep. Sewell visited Plantersville on March 19, 2025, following a devastating tornado that struck the area. She tweeted about her visit and expressed gratitude towards those involved in relief efforts: "I was in Plantersville today to survey the damage from Saturday’s tornado. My heart goes out to everyone impacted by this terrible storm including the families of those whose lives were taken."
