Washington, D.C. – Following the passage of his bill, the Cutting Green Corruption and Taxes Act, Representative Gary Palmer (AL-06) released a statement expressing gratitude for the support received from his colleagues. Palmer emphasized that the bill marks a significant step towards securing American energy and reducing energy costs, stating, “I appreciate the support of my colleagues in passing the Cutting Green Corruption and Taxes Act. This is a major step towards securing American energy and reducing energy costs. This is a win for the American people.”

Palmer criticized the Democrats' Inflation Reduction Act (IRA) for creating what he referred to as a 'Greenhouse Gas Reduction Fund,' describing it as a wasteful initiative that funds special interest groups and political allies rather than aiding the environment. He highlighted the elimination of $27 billion of perceived waste in the bill, redirecting the focus towards affordable and reliable American energy. Palmer asserted, “This bill eliminates $27 billion of waste and shifts the focus to where it should be, affordable and reliable American energy.”

The congressman stressed the importance of expanding access to natural gas to lower energy costs for Americans, condemning the tax on natural gas imposed by the Democrats' IRA for exacerbating affordability and reliability issues. Palmer commended the efforts of Rep. August Pfluger in repealing the natural gas tax, expressing satisfaction that this repeal was incorporated into the legislation. Palmer urged the Senate to promptly pass the bill to provide relief to American families facing financial challenges, concluding, “I urge the Senate to pass this important legislation immediately to help give relief to American families struggling to make ends meet.”
